Mithali Raj Announces International Retirement

Mithali Raj announced her retirement from international cricket on Wednesday and social media was flooded with messages 

Raj, who played 12 Tests, 232 ODIs and 89 T20Is, amassed more than 10,000 runs in international cricket

Mithali is undoubtedly India's greatest batswoman, finishing as their highest run-getter in Tests, ODIs and T20Is

Her last appearance for India coming during the 50-over World Cup earlier this year, in a game against South Africa

She was awarded Arjuna Award in 2003, Padma Shri in 2015 and Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna in 2021 by the Indian government

Mithali's storied international career began way back in 1999, when she made her debut against Ireland and scored 114 not out

Mithali, who has a top score of 214 in Tests, was named India's captain at only 22 years of age

 She, however, remains India's highest run-getter in the format, at No. 7 on the overall list, with current T20I captain
